Loop Trolley Company releases Draft Environmental Analysis (St Louis) - public hearing April 20

NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY and PUBLIC HEARING
Draft Environmental Assessment (Draft EA)

In St. Louis, a proposed streetcar line connecting Forest Park and The Loop to two MetroLink stations is currently under study. The restoration of the streetcar will stimulate area growth and development and enrich neighborhood ambience. With planning, endorsement and support, the new Loop Trolley will be a source of local pride and visitor popularity as it offers proven transportation and cultivates a delightful sense of place with historical significance to St. Louis.

East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWG), Loop Trolley Transportation Development District and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announce that the Draft EA for the proposed St. Louis Loop Trolley project connecting Forest Park and the Delmar Loop is now available for review and comment. The proposed Loop Trolley route runs between Trinity Avenue and DeBaliviere Avenue on Delmar Boulevard. From Delmar Boulevard, the route turns south onto DeBaliviere Avenue and continues southward to a loop around the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park, south of Lindell Boulevard, and includes a trolley maintenance facility at 5975-5893 Delmar Boulevard.

The Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) [part 1] [part 2] has been prepared to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 to evaluate the project alternatives and potential environmental consequences associated with these alternatives. The purpose of the public hearing is to provide the public an opportunity to ask questions and to provide comments on the alternatives and the findings in the EA. Copies of the Draft EA are available for review below and at the following locations during regular business hours:

The comment period opens on March 31st and closes on May 5th. To be included in the project record, comments must be submitted by the deadline.
PUBLIC HEARING A public hearing on the Draft EA will be held. Copies of the Draft EA will be available and the hearing will display maps and other pertinent information and gather public comments. The public hearing will begin with an open house format so that the public may review the materials associated with the project. A formal presentation will follow. After the presentation, the public is encouraged to ask questions and provide comments.
Comments will be recorded for the project record. The public hearing will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Missouri History Museum at Lindell and DeBaliviere in Forest Park, St. Louis.
